  War Composer Kim Ok Song

  •   Kim Ok Song (June 30, 1916-October 25, 1965) was a composer who worked devotedly for the creation of revolutionary musical works until the end of his life, true to the great leader Comrade Kim Il Sung’s idea of the Juche-oriented literary arts.
He is best remembered for his orchestral music and chorus A Bumper Harvest in the Chongsan Plain. As a war composer during the fierce Fatherland Liberation War, he produced militant and revolutionary musical pieces conducive to encouraging the KPA service personnel and people in the rear to victory.
His typical works during those days include To a Decisive Battle (1951) and My Song in the Trench (1951).
The songs he created during the war are still very popular among the Korean people, actively contributing to the revolutionary education of them.
