Pyongyang University of Fine Arts, founded on September 10, 1947, is a “pedigree” institution for training talented fine artists.
  The university has several faculties, including Korean Painting Faculty, Pictorial Art Faculty, Graphic Painting Faculty, Sculpture Faculty and Industrial Design Faculty, Specialized Course, Postgraduate Course, Juche-oriented Fine Art Research Institute, an art studio, art exhibition hall, publishing house and E-library.
  It has achieved successes in educational work and made a tangible contribution to the building of a socialist power by creditably carrying out the tasks of producing fine arts works for major structures of national importance.
  It was honoured with Order of Kim Il Sung, the highest order of the DPRK, and other state commendations for its contribution to the development of the Juche-oriented fine arts.
  Korean Painting Faculty
  As the principal faculty of the university, it has trained a large number of authoritative artists who made tangible contributions to fully demonstrating the proud aspects of the Juche-oriented fine arts.
  Pictorial Art Faculty
  It belongs to one of the faculties with the longest history, together with sculpture and design faculties.
  Graphic Painting Faculty
  Proceeding from the importance of graphic arts, it was developed from a department of the Pictorial Art Faculty into an independent faculty in 1985.
  Sculpture Faculty
  As one of faculties with the longest history in the university, it consists of a monumental and ordinary sculpture department, ornamental sculpture department, and plaster teaching materials studio.
  Industrial Design Faculty
  The faculty has produced a large number of talented industrial designers loved by the people.
  Technical Art Faculty
  The faculty trains artists for making porcelainwork, glasswork, stonework, metalwork, woodwork, lacquerware and embroidery.
  Basic Art Science Faculty
  The faculty trains experts in fine arts theories and fine arts informatics.
  Specialized Course
  The specialized course is intended for training promising students at senior middle school age who would be promoted to a higher faculty. It teaches them pencil drawing and colouring rudiments.
  Postgraduate Course
  It has a three-year doctorate class and a three-year master’s class.
