The 29th April Spring Friendship Art Festival
The 29th April Spring Friendship Art Festival took place in Pyongyang from April 11 to 17, Juche 103 (2014) with the participation of 460 art troupes, artistes and individual figures in the cultural and art circles from more than 30 organizations in 21 countries.
The opening ceremony of the festival took place at the East Pyongyang Grand Theatre.
At the opening ceremony, the festival flag was hoisted and the opening performance of the festival was given by the Korean artistes.
Conducted by People’s Artist Viktor Yeliseev, head of the Song and Dance Academic Ensemble of the Interior Unit of the Russian Ministry of Interior, chorus and orchestral music Song of General Kim Il Sung, an immortal revolutionary song resounded followed by a colorful performance prepared by the Korean artistes.
Performance of art troupes and artistes of different countries took place at seven theatres in Pyongyang, including the East Pyongyang Grand Theatre and the Pyongyang Grand Theatre, in the form of group-by-group, singular and compatible performance.
Also held were various cultural events including a meeting of the Council of the April Spring Friendship Art Festival Fund, a consultative meeting of heads of art troupes and meetings among them and individual figures in the cultural and art circles to develop art exchanges.
At the closing ceremony diplomas and cups were awarded to art organizations and artistes including the China Oriental Performing Art Limited Company, Song and Dance Academic Ensemble of the Interior Unit of the Russian Ministry of Interior, and Vienna Wind Player of Austria and other art troupes and artistes.
