The Sea of Blood-type revolutionary opera, which brilliantly embodies the Workers’ Party of Korea’s idea of Juche-oriented art and literature, has set a genuine example of the socialist art of music which is revolutionary and socialist in content and popular and national in form. The revolutionary opera of the type of The Sea of Blood raises the socio-political issues of bringing honour to the dignity and value of people, the social beings with independence, creativity and consciousness, as the main descriptive task and profoundly reflects the contents of revolutionary and various themes on the basis of unique principles and ways of creation and means of portrayal. It is a new type of opera which cannot be found in the world history of opera, as it incorporates the stanzaic songs, pangchang (off-stage singing), dance and stage arts.
