The folk songs of the western provinces are the traditional ones that were widely sung in the western part of Korea centred on Pyongyang, that is, North and South Phyongan, North and South Hwanghae and Jagang provinces.
  Typical of them are Yangsando, Ryonggangginari, Moran Hill, etc.
  Their melodies are fluent and sweet.
