Small-sized haegum is one of national musical instruments popular among by the Korean people. As a type of haegum, it is a four-stringed musical instrument whose mission is to delineate the part of the highest pitch of songs. It has a beautiful timbre full of national feelings. It can be played in varied way and is rich in artistic portrayal. It is the smallest of the instruments of its kind, and it consists of strings, resonator, fingerboard and bow. Having been improved under the wise leadership of the Workers’ Party of Korea, the national musical instrument is now widely used in various forms of music, including the Korean style of mixed orchestral music.
